Rug Sizing & Placement
Selecting the perfect rug involves more than just picking out its texture, fibres, colours, size, and patterns. Equally important is where you place it. A well-positioned rug can truly accentuate and enhance your space, harmoniously altering the room's dynamics. To assist you in envisioning the ideal placement for your new rug, we've put together this guide on rug placement and sizing.
Sofas & Corner Sofas
Placement: By positioning either all legs of the sofa on the rug or just the front two legs.
Spacing: Your rug should span a minimum of 6 inches beyond each side of the sofa, with 12 inches being preferable for a more balanced look. Maintain a distance of 8 to 24 inches between the rug and the walls to define the space effectively. Additionally, the coffee table should be positioned roughly 18 inches from the sofa to create a comfortable and accessible layout.

Beds
Placement: Arrange the rug to cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, ensuring a few feet are exposed at the end for a bench and clearer visibility of the rug. Try to avoid extending the rug underneath the dresser.
Spacing: Ensure the rug is placed to reach or extend beyond the nightstands' edges. Allow for a span of 6-36 inches from the nightstand's front to the edge of the rug, adjust to the space at the foot of the bed.
Orientation: Position perpendicular to the bed's length.
Dining Tables
Placement: centred in the middle with all legs on the rug.
Spacing: The rug should extend around 3 feet beyond the table, providing sufficient space for chairs to be pulled out and used comfortably.
Orientation: In rectangular arrangements, match the rug to the table's longer dimensions. For circular setups, there's more leeway: choose the rug's orientation based on the overall shape of the room.
